Cohen Nomad Coffee Bar

Cohen Nomad Coffee Bar is a mobile Mexican specialty coffee bar for events in Guadalajara, focused on offering a unique coffee experience. In collaboration with another designer, I developed the brand’s visual identity, creating a graphic system that conveys its minimalist, warm, and contemporary essence through the logo, brand applications, and consumer experience elements.

Process and strategy

The project began with the search for a visual direction that would represent the quality of specialty coffee and the approachable personality of a mobile event bar. The main challenge was to create a minimalist identity that clearly communicated the brand’s focus while maintaining a distinctive, memorable, and timeless style.

To develop the main logo, we drew inspiration from latte art—specifically the tulip design—and integrated it with a typeface featuring simple, curved forms that convey elegance and fluidity. For the alternate version of the logo, we explored a more dynamic and playful style, using the curves found on coffee cups and glasses as a reference to create an isotype with an organic, continuous composition.

The identity was complemented by a color palette inspired by the earth and nature, incorporating color accents to differentiate the brand within the market. Additionally, we designed applications such as a brand identity manual, business cards, cold brew labels, and cups for hot and cold beverages, using minimalist graphic elements and coffee-related phrases to create a relatable, fun, and memorable visual experience.

Resolution

This project enabled us to develop a comprehensive and adaptable visual identity for an emerging brand, creating a graphic system that works equally well in digital media and at physical touchpoints. Through a minimalist, organic aesthetic with personality, we were able to convey the essence of Cohen Nomad Coffee Bar: an approachable, authentic specialty coffee experience designed to connect with people.
